Our client asked us to advise on a major 24/7 construction project that was significantly behind schedule following the collapse of the main underground station.
Working closely with the client’s tunnelling workforce, we developed a strategy and coordinated the recovery of the construction programme. Using ‘Hit Squads’, which we led and coordinated, to deliver the changes; we eliminated avoidable delays and focused the client’s attention on increasing the rate of production, rather than reporting it.
Within six weeks, and without extra resource, we increased the weekly rate of tunnelling by 383%. This enabled the tunnel to be completed five weeks earlier than planned and saved £510k.
