Applying our private sector expertise to the health sector
We have been working with the NHS to develop a client-led, tailored approach that will empower health organisations to deliver sustainable improvements. For example, working with the radiology department at Pennine Acute Trust, we helped bring the Trust's waiting times down to among the best in the North-West. We have worked closely with their staff to transfer skills and improvement activity is continuing.
At the Dudley Group of Hospitals, we worked with the Trust team to identify, quantify and prioritise opportunities for improvement across the organisation. More than 150 people were trained and coached, with 'Performance Action Teams' challenging traditional practices and achieving breakthroughs on the front line. For example, the length of time to grade and book an outpatient appointment was reduced from up to 59 days to less than 4.
Most importantly, people in these organisations are feeling good about what has been achieved and positive about future change. "There's a real sense of delivering benefits to patients" and "Things are one hundred percent better now" are typical of the reactions we have received.
